What are SMS and MMS?

What is SMS?

SMS allows you to send a personal text message to your friends and family of up to 160 characters. Did you know that more than 2.1 billion SMS messages were sent in Sweden last year? Sending an SMS is simple, so join in the fun and get texting today! Many modern handsets make sending an SMS even easier with word recognition. For instructions on using SMS with your phone, refer to the manufacturer’s user guide.

What is MMS?

Want to get creative with your messages? MMS (Multimedia Messaging) is an enhanced version of SMS allowing you to send more than just words to your friends and family. With MMS you can include the following in your messages:

  • Photographs
  • Pictures
  • Text
  • Audio or Music files
  • Self-recorded voice messages
  • Self-recorded video messages

MMS is made up of a short ‘presentation’ comprising still or animated postcards, images, screensavers, greetings cards, maps, cartoons and business cards, all of which can feature text and sound. You are only limited by your own creativity and a maximum message size of 100kb, which is the equivalent of more than 400 SMS messages!
